All of our weddings are shot in both black and white and in color.
There are no limits on how many shots are taken nor how many rolls of film.
Black and White Many people love black and white film for it's classic look and artistic qualities. This alone would be reason enough to shoot black and white film in wedding work, but, true black and white prints also have archival properties of which many people are not aware.
Think of the photos of your grandparents as children, now think of the photos of you as a child. Chances are the photos of you are color, and are fading. The photos of your grandparents haven't changed much since the day they were printed. This is because true black and white prints are printed on a silver-based paper. The color printing process has come a long way, but black and white prints will literally last for hundreds of years.
Any black and white prints you order are printed in this traditional process by Kelly, by hand, in his own darkroom. As you can imagine, there is as much artistry to printing the photos as there is to taking the original picture. He uses great care with each image to make sure it is printed as beautifully as possible.
For interest and beauty, sepia tone and hand-painting is also available with the same long-lasting beauty.
Color
All of our color images are shot on high resolution digital. Whereas the thought of digital may make some people apprehensive, the use of current technology assures not only beautiful, clear images but also unlimited variations in styles and the ability to "correct."
We invite you to come to our studio and see our color images beautifully enlarged to 11 x 14, 16 x 20, even 20 x 24. This alone will dispell your apprehension! Of course, all of the color images on this site were also shot digitally.
Digital images are also easily "backed-up." Since we keep (and you can order) your images forever, we need to make sure that they are safe. Every image is backed-up on two forms of media (DVD and CD) and in three different locations. Try that with negatives! This assures that an accident, or a disaster will not destroy your wedding pictures (and, allows Pamela to sleep at night!)
But, the true beauty of digital photography is the magic that can be created in the computer later. Please visit our section on color variations to see a few popular variations and our page showing the removal of flaws and unwanted objects.
